It's hard to see in this picture but the way the purple trachelium seen through the dried green grass thing was kind of sexy.

i could probably achieve different kind of expressions by playing with the angles and the density of the grass.


Alstromeria was standing out too much when I arranged them up in front or side or tall.
I hid them so that i could still see the little touch of its color.
i love the combination of these purples.

leaf study

This arrangement was my study with leaf materials.
My sensei and classmates loved what I did for aspidistras (in 'line mix' arrangement), so i decided to farther develop the technique.
Ripping or curling a leaf is a technique we often use in ikebana.
It is really interesting how one flat leaf can be developed into an intricated curled design.
It also fun to discover the interesting space created among the ripped part of the leaves.

This time, the challenge was by mixing mainly line materials (like pussy willow, agapanthus, iris, and quince)and somehow creating the balance in the arrangement.
I made one iris tilted down on purpose to create the drama, otherwise, it would've been ordinary look. Is it successful?
